How It Works

Living hinges work by making a thin section that flexes. TPU is best (10,000+ cycles), Nylon is good (5,000+), PETG is moderate (500+), PLA is poor (breaks after ~50 bends). Print with layers parallel to the hinge line. Thickness should be 2-4 layer heights. Thinner = more flexible but weaker.
