How It Works
Resin exposure time is the most critical setting in resin 3D printing. Under-exposure causes layer delamination and failed prints; over-exposure causes loss of detail and dimensional inaccuracy. Mono LCD screens (2020+) are ~3x faster than older RGB LCD screens because the monochrome LCD passes more UV light. Bottom layers need 10-15x the normal exposure to ensure strong adhesion to the build plate. Temperature matters: cold resin (below 68°F/20°C) cures slower and may need 10-20% more exposure. Always run an exposure test (like the Ameralabs Town test) when using a new resin or printer. Transition layers gradually reduce exposure from bottom to normal, preventing a visible line between the raft and the model.
